The Federal Reserve hasn’t Raised Rates this Rapidly since the Early 1980’s

The Federal Reserve is seeking to decelerate our rapidly growing economy, and one of their strategies involves raising the Federal Funds Rate (FFR). As demonstrated in the graphic, the rate at which the Fed has been increasing rates is unparalleled since the early 1980s. However, additional rate hikes are now being debated, as recent increases have contributed to instability in the banking sector, due to losses in bond portfolios at banks and declining deposits. Expect the latest Fed rate decision out tomorrow.
